One of the biggest issues in Criminal Defense are Drug Crimes and Recovery. Frequently, there are two different types of criminal defendants charged with Drug Crimes: those that are in the business of dealing drugs and do not use them and those that are addicted to drugs. Heroin  This blog will deal exclusively with drug charges involving people who are addicted to drugs and who should strongly consider Recovery. Many counties, including the counties of Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Berks and Montgomery Counties have various programs created to assist addicts recover from their addictions. These programs are known as Drug Court and Recovery Court. And many of these programs enable criminal defendants to receive lighter sentences and in some cases the complete withdrawal of all criminal charges.

Nothing has highlighted the danger of the Opioid addiction crisis as the events which happened recently at a recovery house in Chester County, Pennsylvania. More about Drug Crimes  Specifically, on May 24, 2017, CNN and District Attorney Thomas Hogan reported that two counselors at an addiction facility in southeastern Pennsylvania died after overdosing on opioids. The uniquely saddest part of this story is that the victims in this case were counselors who were charged with assisting the addicts recover from their addictions to opioids. According to the Chester County District Attorney Thomas Hogan, there were six recovering addicts living at the recovery house and that they were the ones who found the two counselors at the Freedom Ridge Recovery Lodge in West Brandywine Township. This case clearly illustrates the long term damages that opioids can have on the human nervous system and soul. Because drugs effect the physical, mental and spiritual sides of addicts, it is becoming more and more clear just how precarious recovery can be. No case illustrates the precarious nature of recovery more than this sad case.
